It's funny, you know. My friends and family know me as a pretty web-savvy gal; I'm on Facebook, Twitter and I blog (although not as regularly as I would've liked to recently). My iPhone is permanently by my side, and I've spent a lot of time organizing my address book so that I can reach anyone I've known in the last decade or so in seconds.
Still, I'm getting phone calls and e-mails from very well-meaning and excited relatives and friends asking if I've a) had the baby b) gone into labor or c) had any feelings it was about to start. I'm not angry by any stretch, but seriously folks... we will let you know. It might surprise you, but we're waiting with bated breath for the arrival of our firstborn, too. We haven't forgotten, and we certainly won't forget to send an update on Facebook, Twitter or by phone call or text message for the following:
- When I'm in labor.
- When I've given birth.
- All the details - gender, name, weight, length, hair color.
- The first photo.
- When we're heading home from the hospital.
Absent these updates, please assume that I've not yet gone into labor or had the baby. My due date is Saturday, January 16th, so asking me beforehand (especially when first babies are notoriously late) is a bit futile, no? :)
